Wangedigala

Wangedigala

It was another day in our university life. Again it’s time to hike. This time it was Wangedigala.
We started our journey from Pambahinna to Kalupahana (bus station which is closed to Bambarakanda waterfall). It took us 30 minutes to go there.
Then we started the hiking with rain. It was a rainy day but we are expectedly took the challenge. After wet grassland we reached to middle of the mountain range. The view itself much beautiful with the trees and the white background of the land and rainy surface.

The experience with leeches terribly memorable as it was. Removing them was not easy one at all. We had to focus them in every minute while we enjoy the hiking. Leeches live in moist undergrowth and grasses as well as freshwater areas. they attach themselves to warm blooded animals including humans.

If you can stand the thought of letting the leech get its fill, it’ll drop off on its own after about 20 minutes. It’s up to your experience.
Lanka ella waterfall and the Bambarakanda waterfall (which is highest waterfall in Sri Lanka) seems very fantastically through the greenery mountain range. The combination of colors takes everyone’s breath at once.

We stepped to the peak of the mountain time by time. Here is one  of our destination and wonderful place to capture your life’s seconds.

It was not so hard to continue our hiking though it was raining. Finally we reached to the peak.. these pictures say more than thousands of words. Grab it Find it and Feel it. Only thing we have to care about save yourself and the nature as well.

Protect this beauty is always up to our good behaviors. Don’t be a part of destruction of mother nature.

Haawagala – Belihul oya

Haawagala is situated in Belihuloya in Rathnapura district. The destination is isolated from the paraviyangala and gomalee mountain range which is surrounded by beautiful natural diversity. The shape of the mountain is just like a rabbit and it may be the reason for the name “Haawagala” which is the meaning of ‘a rock like a rabbit’.
Wonderful piece of nature for the travelers who are willing to like hiking in Sri lanka.

It is not much time consuming hiking but needs only 2 to 3 hours to reach to the top. Landuyaaya is the nearest village which is possible to travel by bus from balangoda. The vehicles of transport tea leaves are available to pick you if you possible to manage your behaviors.
We took the bus from Galagama junction to landuyaaya and then after it is time to travel by foot through the rock.

We used to pass some small water holes and fill the bottles of water. At the top of the rock there is no place to collect water.

It took us nearly three hours to reach to the top and it was memorable view at the top. In one side it was Gomalee mountain range.  Another side it was Balangoda district. It is possible to watch the shape of a butterfly within Samanala wewa.

What a place to camping and spend a night of adventure here in isolated piece of world. Huge land of flat is available here which I have never seen in my travelling life.

The words are not much enough to prove the experience and travelers are welcome to this marvelous place.

Hiking Adarakanda

Another my one of amazing hiking was just started from pambahinna. It’s Adarakanda..Why we used to called it so the reason is it is the mountain that is famous for very first trip for new comers in the university of samabaragamuwa each year. It is related it’s own culture.New batch used to climb this surprised holly mountain to make their brotherhood more stronger.
In Belihul oya there are so many mountains such as Haagala,Haawagala,Paraviyangala,Gomali kanda etc.

Here I am expressing about our amazing trip to adarakanda. It is exactly great experience as it was.We went their with three of my university mates.
We started our journey at 5.30 p.m from pambahinna junction.we used to arranged our dinner and other essentials and foods for two days.First of all we found the entrance to the group of mountain which is situated about 600m near to pambahinna junction.
Then we just continued our hiking. It took us nearly three hours to reach the very first place namely Geo point which we can take fresh water from the sources. It says that this is the only place which we can find water in mountain adrakanda..the journey was tough..gruel..but hopeful..

Just get dark scond by scond but no any feeling to stop the moving..we was to saw a small light in top of the mountain far away from our location..hopefully we used to find our destination through the darkness and curiosity..  Finally we reached to fair high of the mountain and we selected there to stay over the night..we arranged there as much as facilitated for the high-sleep night.
We took bread as our dinner.
Then it’s our time to sleep under the dark sky.No moon light at all..that is great  experience as it was..how free that was..how cool there was..how dangerous there was to fell..we went to sleep on the hard rock..we have ever sleep in such a open air area before...It was actually very good night in fair words..

Another new sunrise..another new begging...
Just another new day..it was nearly 5.30 a.m..I got up..friends got up..
Oh my god...have no any words to be compared..
what a view..what a place we were there..i have never seen such a place within my naked eye.we were surprised for long time...

We used to continue our journey again within few minutes preparing..what a cool and fresh morning that was..we passed another top of another mountain within three or four hours.then it’s our time to feel the highest view of the group of mountains..it was the highest place of our journey. we took our breakfast there.within few seconds freeze came here and cover the area where we stay..we just surprised again again..
How breath taking surprise of nature that was....

We started our journey under huge clouds near to us..we had no any expectation about the next destination..still we were keep moving..we have already reached the top of the mountain..

We decided to  keep moving to the forward..no turning back..we heard that there is no any way to move through the mountains for the back of the mountain side which we can't watch from the university premises.but we found the way to another expectation..

No any previous road marks or even and mark of steps..just keep moving..
Water level of the bottle was getting low..no foods more except few crumbs..where we go..who knows..

After two or three hours we used to saw a tea plantation..therefor we make the expectation of having village and it’s villagers..we passed small waterfalls and fill our bottles with fresh water and have small break..tired to us...

We saw a very tiny and beautiful village which is surrounded by huge mountains and mist..I have only seen such a beautiful village in pictures and videos.. What a wonderful village that has well managed life style and very riched in village essentials..
It is Uggal duwa village..there was nearly 12 houses with few people..one shop was there with few goods..but that is also not a shop but also a room of house.we move for them and we found a person called mayuran who is much hospitable for us.It was dipavaali day. Villagers were kind enough to pay us foods..thanks to theirself  we took our lunch and we leave mayuran’s home.

We decided to take the bus that is daily come for the village.then we foot for the bus which leave at 3.00 p.m from there village school to balangoda.
we saw another waterfall closed to our moving road.then it was just our bathing time..after few hours of having our  bath again we started the end session of our journey..
Number of waterfalls are there closed to the traveling road and we took the bus which is transporting Nan-perial to Balangoda.it took us nearly one hour to reach pambahinna junction through little wide road with eye catching background. It was nearly 6 p.m and we finished our fabulous journey.

It was hard.. strange.. dangerous...but always hopeful.. but exactly we may never forget that trip..
Here are some of our galleries..See you again with amazing journey..
